I originally bought the Russell Hobbes kettle, which failed. The US company replaced it with the Black and Decker kettle. I am on my THIRD Black and Decker, waiting for my fourth replacement - this kettle starts to leak after about 2 months, water all over the counter and then the unit shorts out. Same problem with all three kettles I have been sent. Very poor quality and very frustrating as I depend on my electric kettle.

I had purchased a red dome kettle - liked the shape and the quick heating of water. However, after I had it for about 18 months it started to leak water onto the plastic base. I then bought this item and again after about 18 months it starts to leak!
Black and Decker should check into the poor workmanship of their electric tea kettles! I don't think I'll buy another Black and Decker kettle!!!

We've had the kettle for two weeks. The top doesn't open all the way so it is difficult to fill. It is also difficult to judge how full the kettle is, partly for the same reason and partly because the clear area where you are supposed to see how much water is in the kettle is obscured by the handle and your hand as you are filling. When we pour the kettle, half the water ends up everywhere but the teapot unless you pour very slowly. You would think by now people could design a decent kettle. My other beef is that because the kettle is stainless, it is easy to burn yourself on the outside of the kettle if you aren't careful.
