I waited six months to write a review of this machine. I did a lot of research prior to buying and feel like I finally have a good handle on it.
The machine is a slick plastic housing. It looks very nice on the counter and gets a lot of attention when we entertain for dinners. It is not intuitive for others to use though. So when someone wants a coffee drink after dinner I find myself standing there to tend the machine. I knew this going into this purchase though since it does not have one-touch options.

I love the removable brew group for cleaning. It is easy to wipe out the inside of the machine and keep it nice and clean. The brewunit moves within the machine as an espresso is pulled. In the last month I am starting to notice a squeak as the brew group raises and lowers. I think this could be fixed with a little grease. Just haven't got the time to investigate this further.

The dregs box is a good size, holding about 14-15 spent pucks. Depending on how much you dose may impact a dregs box overflow. No big deal. Otherwise the machine prompts you to empty it by keeping count of how many espressos have been brewed.

Milk steaming is what I expected. Do not expect microfoam with this machine. It just isn't happening. Milk temp and foam are good.

I have noticed in my months of use that the adjustable pour spots no longer stay in place. While brewing they will drop down to rest on the edge of the cup. What this means is that when your drink is finished brewing the edge of the spots catch on the lip of the mug so you can't just pull it away. You need to first hold the pour spots up with one finger and remove the cup. Annoying but not a big deal.

The drip tray was originally a spotless stainless. I can definitely notice scratching on it now. I know it's normal wear, indicating a well used machine... but it's not as gorgeous as it once was....as expected but in my opinion I think it is wearing a bit soon.

The dosing features are handy. Being able to adjust water volume and coffee does on the fly is nice. It is hard though to find the right combo. What I have taken to doing is setting my grind and dose based on the coffee roast I am using. Then I turn the water volume up all the way. I hit the double espresso button and watch the shot. I then stop the shot when volume and color appear best. I know I am taking away some of the functionality of this machine but have found this is the best way to get a tasty shot.

Overall, I think this machine is nice. It serves my purposes and I think in the future I will actually move back to a semi-auto machine. I prefer some more hands on skill for my espresso.

We saw this coffee maker in Bed, Bath & Beyond for $700 and was able to purchase significant lower on Amazon with a $100 rebate!! Was an early Christmas gift for moving into our new house and it makes wonderful coffee and looks great sitting on the counter. It may not be the most silent coffeemaker out there. We always try to buy American but could not find a coffee machine made here. This one is made in Italy and not China, good quality and easy to use!

I've read many reviews and really appreciate all the good comments as it help me in my decision. I'm not a coffee drinker but enjoy cappucinos every now and then and my wife likes espressos so we decided to give one of these machines a try and after extensive research, decided to buy the Magnifica 3300. We have yet to use it but I'm sure that for the price we paid, it'll be definitely worth it.
I'm a bargain chopper and waited for a long time to find the lowest price but no one seem to have it for under $700 until I visited my local Costco in November and surprisingly they just started carrying it. I bought it during Black Friday and they had an Instant $100 off from its regular price of $489 so it was a great deal. Delonghi also has a $100 that I'm hoping to get so in the end it might only end up costing us $315, which is less than half the price of any other local or internet store. Keep in mind that Costco sometimes doesn't keep merchandise long and/or always restocks so you might not want to wait long. You might also want to give them a call since out of the 3 different stores I went to between Washington DC and Miami, FL, one in Washington wasn't carrying it. Also keep in mind that the Delonghi $100 rebate expires Dec 31,2011 and needs to be submitted by the end of January.
